Punjab Shehri Awas Yojana - Free Houses to SC/BC Families in Urban Area

Chandigarh, August 4, 2013: The Punjab Government has given the theoretical approval to reduce the circulation rates today in the state to pursue the real estate sector, while deciding to cut stamp duty on the merger registration in Panjab Shehri Yojana  urban areas. With this, the government also announced the launch of a free housing scheme for the non-scheduled caste people and the Punjab Urban Housing Scheme-2017.

Presiding over the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has instructed to make an official proposal for reduction in the circulation of rates which will be presented in the next meeting of the Council of Ministers.
Local body minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said that he is already working on this proposal and will present it in the next meeting.
Apart from this, the government has reduced the stamp duty from 9 to 6 days for the registration of marriages for the marquee registration in urban areas till March 31, 2018.
Apart from this, the government has also decided to discontinue the changes in land use, external development fee for real estate projects and 10 yr increase in license fee.

Under the Punjab Shehri Awas Scheme-2017, the urban families having annual income of less than Rs 3 lakh in the first phase will be eligible for free housing. In the second phase, families with annual income upto five lakh rupees will get this facility. Other qualifications have also been set for this scheme.
