Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), sanctioning 5.54 lakh dwelling houses in UP has been released and the first installment of funds has been released to beneficiaries for 4.95 lakh houses. The scheme is funded by Central Government and Uttar Pradesh Government Schemes . State Government spokesman said that under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme (Rural), the target of construction of 9.6 lakh houses in the state is 2017-18. Out of this, 5.73 lakh houses are expected to be constructed in 2016-17 and 3.96 lakh houses for the year 2017-18. In this regard, 6.65 beneficiaries have been registered and 6.22 lakh beneficiaries have been geo-tagging so far. The spokesperson said that the main objective of the Prime Minister Housing Scheme (Rural) starting from November 20, 2016, is to provide housing to poor families living in homeless and in-house houses.
