Kerala govt start new Savalambam loan Insurance Scheme

The Kerala government is considering launching of an insurance scheme for disabled people in the state, said Chief ministerPinarayi Vijayan at the state level inauguration of loan mela for disabled people at Parasaala on Wednesday. The  loan insurance scheme Savalambam’ will be meant for disabled people aged upto 65. This is being done as part of government policy to bring disabled people to the mainstream of society by envisaging schemes depending upon their varying capacities. The government has initiated steps to make public places, offices, tourist centres disabled friendly.The Kerala State Handicapped Persons' Welfare Corporation. The project aims at empowering disabled people through small scale job ventures.
The corporation provides loans upto Rs 25 lakhs for starting small scale ventures. Those persons with more than 40% disabilities can apply for this loan.
